It’s actually taken me a little while to write this review of Timmy Green in Nova Victoria. Not because it wasn’t a good experience. I think I’ve just had more exciting things to write about. Even though I had my best burger experience there.

Timmy Green Charcoal Brioche Bun Burger

I went  in July 2018 at the start of the great British heatwave. It was a bit of a last minute decision. I met with a friend, just on a whim after a meeting, and we decided to head to Nova Victoria for dinner. Out of all the restaurants around the area. We decided we had to try Timmy Green, purely on the basis, that they have a sauce called ‘HOLY F*CK SAUCE”. If that isn’t a reason to try a restaurant. I don’t know what is.

We were able to get a table outside which was absolutely wonderful. Especially, as it was the first few warm days of the year. Timmy Green is close to the main road. If you request a table, that is down the middle of Nova, then you won’t notice the traffic. As service goes, it was pretty swift, and we had no complaints.

Now let’s get into the important part! The food…

4 Things To Try At Timmy Green

Crispy Calamari, Courgettes, Green Beans and Ribman’s Holy F*ck Hollandaise

I know many people do not like Calamari. I am a massive fan. I nearly always get some as a starter. Plus, this dish, was the reason why we decided on having dinner here. So, it was an obvious choice. In all honesty, the size of this starter, was enough to be served as a main. The Calamari and tempura veggies were nice, light and crispy. The Holy F*ck Hollandaise sauce wasn’t as expected. I had imagined it would be really spicy. It wasn’t. It was tasty with a nice little spicy kick. The spice wasn’t overpowering but complemented the other sauce ingredients well.  Not something I’d say ‘Holy F*ck that’s good’ but something I’d certainly have again.

Timmy’s Beef Burger, Charcoal Brioche Bun, Mature Cheddar with Fries

If there was anything to say ‘Holy F*ck” to, it was this! Because it was by far one of the best burgers I have ever tasted. Period. Full Stop. End of Story. No longer need to continue with the search for best burger in London. If you’ve never tried a charcoal brioche bun before. You haven’t lived. It’s just so darn tasty. The beef burger was nicely cooked. I usually like my burgers cooked well done. But, it was medium rare, which went so perfectly with the bun, that I didn’t even notice. The fries were average, but the burger is so good, that the fries are an afterthought.

Melbourne Mars Bar Cheesecake Ball

Cheesecake is one of my favourite ways to consume cheese. I also had a massive thing for Mars Bars when I was younger. That even now, I have to do my best to avoid them. As I can’t just eat one. So, it was like this dessert, was my destiny. Maybe I put too high an expectation on it. But, again it didn’t live up to expectations. It looks impressive and got lots of likes on Instagram. However, the chocolate ‘ball’ was a bit “meh”. I would have prefered that they hadn’t bothered with it. The cheesecake wasn’t overly sweet, which cut through the caramel and nougat of the Mars Bar. Give me just the cheesecake and the Mars Bar pieces and I will be happy.

Espresso Martini

Not that I really needed a coffee hit at what was 9pm in the evening. But I couldn’t resist finishing with an Espresso Martini. As my second favourite Martini, first being a Porn Star Martini. I have standards when it comes to this coffee flavoured drink. The reason why I like Espresso Martini’s is because, the coffee hit, is dulled down by the alcohol. Making it a little sweeter. This one was perfectly acceptable and nicely mixed. I couldn’t fault it.

My dining companion and I were not very original. We ordered the same thing. Which isn’t very usual. We usually order different things. So what did he think of Timmy Green’s? He loved the burger as much as I did.

Overall, most of the dishes were very standard. You know, all well done, enjoyable, and you can’t put much fault on it. The star of the menu has to be the burger. I’ve already recommended it to lots of people. I would go back to Timmy Green purely because of it.

Oh, if you have pups, they are welcome to join you outside. They will even bring out a dish of water for them.
