Are you fed up with the usual ‘fast’ food places, offering pretty much the same things, and of the same quality. Yes, the likes of Pret and Eat are ok. To pick up a quick lunch to help you get you through the day. But what do you do, when you can’t face the same old, boring wraps or sandwiches? You head to Koox London of course!
I was recently invited to test them out, and as a massive foodie, who is always on the lookout for new and exciting places. My answer was a resounding yes. And I wasn’t disappointed!
Before I get into what you should order at Koox London. I have to tell you about the brand and restaurant because so much work has been put into it. Everything single thing about this place has been well thought out. From the seating, the lamps, decor, and machines. Most of what you see in the restaurant has been made exclusively for them. Apparently, it took 3 years just to get the decor sorted, and they didn’t even have a lease signed. This is how much dedication they have put in.
The dedication is also reflected in the food. The idea behind the food. Is to create high-quality fast food. To make quality food accessible without compromising on taste. The menu at Koox London has been created by French Michelin Starred Chefs. Each dish they have created has been highly tested, and they have even gone as far as creating new machines. Just to get the perfect result. Not many restaurants would do this!
Now, let me tell you all about the food and what you should definitely order when you visit.
4 Things To Order AT Koox London
Chicken Mushroom Hot Kone
I’m going to start with my favourite thing first. It’s only fair. Plus, the dedication they put into creating this thing of beauty, should warrant a million word article. The Koox London Hot Kone is a novel take on a wrap. But it is so much more than that. It really solves that lifelong issue with wraps falling apart as you eat them. How does it do that? Well, I’m glad you asked! They created a machine that cooks the ‘wrap’ mix into a cone shape. Now that you know about it, you think it’s such an obvious idea, and why no one else has thought of it before.
So, what do they taste like? Well, I tried 2 flavours. The Hoisin Duck and the Chicken Mushroom. Both were extremely delicious. But my favourite was the Chicken Mushroom. For many reasons. First, the wrap itself is lighter than you think it would be. It’s made from a mix of Rye and Buckwheat Flour. Giving it an interesting nutty taste. The filling is not what you’d expect from a chicken wrap. Usually chicken, in chicken wraps are dry and tasteless. Not in these cones! The chicken is moist and actually tastes like chicken. There is nothing bland about it. Unexpectedly, they’ve paired this with a Hollandaise foam. Which works perfectly with the other dressings of vinegar and lemon. The only thing that put me off initially was that it contains Hazelnuts. Which I’m not a fan of unless it’s in Nutella. But in reality, the flavour combination worked so well, that the Hazelnut was not overpowering. Don’t be fooled by the size of these. They look a lot smaller in pictures. In reality, they are massive. Big enough to fuel the rest of your day.
Egg and Spinach Waffle
The best way I can describe the Egg and Spinach waffle is as a waffle toasty. Usually, when you get a waffle or a toasty they are heavy. But somehow, Koox London has worked some sort of magic on these, to make them as light as a feather. They are made to order, using a waffle batter, and a waffle machine. As soon as the waffle batter is nearly cooked, they stuff if full of delicious filling, and squish them together. To finish off the cooking process. Resulting in a perfectly squished waffle toasty, which is piping hot, and smells delicious. If you are put off by the egg part. Don’t be. The overall flavour combination is perfect. It’s like having the best bits of a savoury brunch in a sandwich.
Strawberry and Rhubarb Tart
Let’s talk desserts! My favourite thing in the world, apart from, you know family and loved ones. Are desserts! So, I was extremely excited to try this. And it didn’t disappoint! The pastry is so light, I swear it could fly away in a light breeze. Now, I know a lot of people don’t like light pastry. But it works so well with the sliced strawberries, crunchy rhubarb, delicate meringue pieces, and vanilla cream. Talking about the vanilla cream. Wow! It the right kind of sweet to offset all of the other ingredients. The vanilla is not the phony kind. It’s fresh and delicate tasting. The tart has the perfect balance of being a light and indulgent treat. Which means you’ll always find room to eat it. Even after eating one of the filling Koox London Hot Kones.
Orange, Carrot and Lemongrass Juice
Whenever you have an orange and carrot juice, what is it usually mixed with? Ginger, right? Koox London has thought outside of the box again. And mixed their Orange and Carrot juice with Lemongrass. Resulting in a refreshing juice without that sudden assault of ginger. Which let’s be honest, can come as quite a surprise, depending on how much ginger has been added in the first place. I would like to suggest more people mix their juices with lemongrass. It’s a winner for sure!
One of the best things about Koox London. Is that all of their hot food is made to order. Which slightly takes out the fast in the fast food. But everything I tried was well worth the wait. And in all honesty, the wait wasn’t that long to begin with. Especially when you are getting food of this quality, freshly made, to order.
Another great thing is that they are on Deliveroo! So, if you are on a tight deadline at work, you have no excuse not to order a healthy tasty lunch! Plus it’s got a 92% smiley face rating. Which in my opinion is well deserved.
Koox London would also make a great place to have a meeting. During the day it’s not over the top busy. Leaving you with plenty of space to sit and actually have a conversation with someone. You don’t need to order a full meal. Just grab a coffee and if you are there after 2 pm. Treat yourself to one of their tarts! You won’t regret it.
